Meetings

Meetings

Meetings are not everybody's favorite thing, but they are necessary for the structure and governing of entities and for the open exchange of ideas. Our unit (and most units) of the American Legion Auxiliary hold two meetings a month, at 6 p.m. on the first and second Mondays of the month. The first meeting is of the Executive Board, comprised of the Unit officers, and the second is for the general membership. Meetings are not compulsory, but only through attendance will you get an accurate sense of what we are planning and doing.

The District, which in our case is comprised of all units in Yavapai County, holds four meetings at year, held at different posts each time. These meetings also are not compulsory, but they are great chance to make new friends and gather new ideas.

The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Arizona, holds two meetings a year: a convention in the summer and a fall conference. Unit members from all over the State attend these events, which, again, are not compulsory. At these meetings, new officers are elected, awards are presented, there are often training sessions, and the various officers and committee members give reports of their activities.
